INTEGRATED CAMPUS IN MELBOURNE'S CBD: EXCLUSIVE RIGHT FOR RMIT STUDENTS

RMIT students will be the first one to enjoy a campus’s shopping precinct, which is a part of the New Academic Street project, in the heart of Melbourne's CBD from September 2017.
Joey Pham, the sixth-semester student with major in Professional Communication shares her opinion.
“I believe that studying in the city campus of RMIT is a big advantage because I have many chances to enjoy a vibrant environment with various utilities. However, separated buildings make me feel like I am not studying in a true university's campus and walking between buildings costs much time and effort than I thought. Then, the New academic street project has appeared and solved all my concerns.”
“Students now can easily access to classes by new pathways between buildings. Moreover, we have more spaces to study and relax during break time and after school. We also can buy breakfast and lunch inside the campus instead of wasting much time on food courts of shopping centers. I feel glad that the campus is transforming in a positive way.” she said.
Miss Linda Stevenson, a senior manager, emphasizes the project’s main purpose is to transform the city campus into an active, convenient and urban space.
“Students tell us they love being part of the city but it’s hard to find space to relax and enjoy campus life. Students want more places to collaborate and study. They also want the fundamentals – such as enrolment and program queries – to be managed easily and efficiently.” she said.
With the new shopping precinct, students can freely choose variety of commercial and food outlets. More pop-up retail spaces are expanded to not only meet students' demand but also become an opportunity to start their own business.
With effort from New Academic Street project, RMIT’s city campus is now wearing a new appearance and getting ready for students to enjoy a truly integrated campus in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.

NAS’s project including three stages has been run from middle 2015 to middle 2017. In order to create better services for RMIT students, NAS will bring comfort, convenience and innovation to the heart of the City campus by upgrading facilities to a higher level. They believe that the campus is not only a place for students and staff to study and work but also an unique environment to experience urban atmosphere in the central of Melbourne. NAS hopes that this positive change will improve effectiveness of work and study in the university environment. The launching event will occur on September 2017.

TRADITIONAL MEDIA RELEASE
Dear Mr. Smith,

I will start with a question before going to the main point: Have you ever thought that nutrition supplication and food security for students are important issues in educational environment? For New Academic Street (NAS) project of RMIT University, the answer is yes.

In educational environment, nutrition supplication and food security are considered as problematic issues. As the result, NAS has created more spaces for food retail to not only make sure that RMIT students enjoy better meals but also protect their health from food of unknown origin. Moreover, the university wants their students to feel convenient and comfortable all long hard working days.

This topic does not sound familiar to the majority. Therefore, I am about to deliver information by different ways including a social media release, a traditional media release, an interview podcast, blog series, a feature article and some posters. The purpose of this work is to help people understand importance of nutrition to their studies and also remind them not to skip any meals of a day. Furthermore, I believe that this work is necessary to audience because basic information is not enough, people need more chances to dig deeper into the issue. Then they can clearly understand it and support the project.

Although NAS only creates changes inside RMIT’s City campus, it will be an attractive topic to students in Melbourne and surrounding areas. NAS project of RMIT University will become an innovative model for other universities to learn and follow.
To help that information reach more people, I hope you can spend time writing some relevant articles. Additionally, it would be my honor to have a discussion with you.
